What is it?
Thick or thin fried gram flour noodles. Often flavoured with chilli powder, carom seeds and/or black pepper.
How do you eat it?
As they are, by the fistful. My dad tells stories of drowning his gathiya in a bowl of chai as a young lad, like a savoury Indian cereal. I can’t say I’ve tried that, but he insists it’s delicious – I say it’s a crime against cornflakes.
