  • About
Marjoram is indigenous to the Middle East and the Mediterranean. Earliest evidence of it dates from around 1500 BC, when images of the herb were inscribed on stone tablets by the Hittites of Asia (the ancient Anatolians).
Marjoram was used in beer before hops became the predominant herb in beer making.
The Egyptians used marjoram oil to treat ailments such as ear infections, and also used the herb as an antiseptic. It has been used for its healing properties by many other cultures throughout history, too.
