Tiree-born and bred Frazer Maclnnes used to fish for lobster and crab with his grandfather from 8 years old. Then, from the age of 14, he got his own boat with his own creels that he puts out a couple of miles along the southern shore of the island. Now, aged 32, he juggles the fishing among other jobs, as so often happens on the islands. Frazer and his partner Ruth Mackinnon, another Tiree local, run a catering trailer in Scarinish, Tiree Lobster and Crab, selling wonderful seafood and drinks. They are open from May through to October, to tie in with the season when the creels are out. They supply fresh lobster and crab from his own boat (they are kept in cages in the harbour alongside the trailer and hauled up when someone wants to buy live lobster or crab) and also a wide range of other fresh seafood, such as scallops, from other boats on Tiree. Tie fresh seafood is sold to tourists and also to local hotels. He also sells langoustines and prawns from Oban, as well as Tiree beef, lamb and pork direct from the family farm in Ruaig on the north east of the island.
