Glynn Christian

Glynn Christian helped found The Guild of Food Writers and is the only food writer given a Lifetime Achievement Award from within the UK food industry, by the Guild of Fine Food, 2008 Great Taste Awards. He is a pioneering BBC-TV chef (Pebble Mill: BBC Breakfast Time et al) and food broadcaster and currently devises and presents Food and Drink Craft Kits for The Craft Channel UK. Glynn is the only biographer of Fletcher Christian, leader of the 1789 mutiny on BOUNTY and Glynn’s gt-gt-gt-gt grandfather: published 1982, FRAGILE PARADISE has become seminal reference. MRS CHRISTIAN – ‘BOUNTY’ MUTINEER is his first historical-fiction book: Mauatua, Fletcher’s consort, directed bloody revolution on Pitcairn Island and in 1838 led Pitcairn’s women to be first in the world to vote – 90 years before Britain. REAL FLAVOURS – the handbook of gourmet and deliingredients is Glynn’s best-known food book; voted World’s Best Food Guide, Le Cordon Bleu World Food Media Awards. Nigel Slater called it ‘one of the only ten books you need’: Tom Parker Bowles says it is ‘as important to the kitchen as a sharp knife’.
