Raghavan Iyer (1961–2023), an IACP Award–winning Teacher of the Year, was the author of numerous books on Indian cooking. He grew up in Mumbai, moving to the US in 1982 to study hospitality. His books include Indian Cooking Unfolded, 660 Curries, Betty Crocker’s Indian Home Cooking. Iyer was also a popular presenter, hosting the Emmy-winning documentary Asian Flavors. His video series Indian Curries: The Basics and Beyond won a James Beard Foundation award and his book The Turmeric Trail: Recipes and Memories from an Indian Childhood was also shortlisted for an award.
