- Yam 300 g (10½ oz), peeled and cut into large wedges

Method
- Pound ingredients for spice paste using a mortar and pestle until smooth.
- Put all the ingredients except salt and sugar in a pot and slowly bring to the boil.
- When yam is tender, season with salt and sugar. Serve warm.
