Doris Wandel was a formidable show cook who often set the standard for other competitors. Doris died unexpectedly in January 2007 at the age of 81, after more than 50 years competing and judging at shows from Clare to Renmark and Adelaide. Originally from the Barossa Valley, she spent most of her life on a farm near Balaklava with Clarrie, her husband of 60 years.
