A blend of butter and icing sugar that is easy to make and is highly popular in North America. Variations of this vanilla version can be made in the same way as for English butter cream above.


  • 60 g / 2 oz butter
  • 120 g / 4


Cream the butter in a bowl until soft, gradually mix in the sieved icing sugar until you have a smooth spreadable mixture. Flavour to taste with a drop or two of the vanilla essence.
