  • About

You push marshmallows into cake batter in pan just before baking; they rise to the top during baking and make topping. Easier than frosting

Ingredients

  • c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • tsp.

Method

  • Sift together flour, sugar, soda, salt, baking powder and spices.
  • Add shortening, eggs and applesauce. Beat until smooth and blended.
  • Stir in walnuts. Pour into greased and floured 13X9X2" pan. Press whole marshmallows into batter to bottom of pan—in 4 rows, 5 in each row.
  • Bake in moderate oven (350°) about 50 minutes. Cool on rack.
