I don’t see why anybody in New Orleans should go hungry. It seems to me they could just go to the French Market in the Quarter and pick up everything that the vendors are throwing away. You could take all of those soft tomatoes and make the best stewed tomatoes. Mix them with a little butter and add some basil leaves and there you go. Or add them to stewed okra. You can really cook a lot with just a little imagination.
