Crunchy topped, red-bright filling—a beauty that tastes as good as it looks


  • Baked 9" pie shell
  • 3 tblsp. cornstarch
  • ¾ c. sugar
  • ¼ c. water
  • 4 c. strawberries
  • Few drops red food color
  • Toasted Oat Topping
  • Whipped cream (optional)


  • Combine cornstarch and ½ c. sugar in saucepan; blend in water. Add 2 c. berries and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened and translucent (mixture will be very thick).
  • Remove from heat, add food color, remaining ¼ c. sugar and 2 c. berries. Chill.
  • Turn strawberry mixture into pie shell and scatter Toasted Oat Topping over pie. Serve with whipped cream if you like.
