This rich, delicious pie serves 8


  • Unbaked 9" pie shell
  • ½ c. butter or margarine
  • c. sugar
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 1 c. chopped dates
  • 1 c. flaked coconut (or chopped nuts)
  • 1 tblsp. grated orange peel
  • 2 tblsp. frozen orange juice concentrate, undiluted


  • Cream butter and sugar; add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each. Add dates, coconut, orange peel and juice.
  • Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Fold into filling. Turn into pie shell. Bake in slow oven (300°F.) 1 hour. Cool before serving.
