Method

  • Combine sugar (amount of sugar depends on tartness of apples, but you may need 1½ c.), flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in 9" X 9" X 2" pan. Add apples and lemon juice. Stir to combine. Dot with butter and top with pastry, rolled 1" larger than top of pan. Cut steam vents; trim and flute edge just inside edge of pan. Or pull points of fluting over outer rim of pan to faste
