Quebec Pork Pie

You can freeze this pie before baking, or freeze just the filling to use later


  • Pastry for 2-Crust Pie
  • 1 lb. ground lean pork
  • ½ lb. ground lean beef
  • 3 tblsp. chopped onion
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • tsp. pepper
  • 1 c. water
  • tsp. cloves
  • ¼ tsp. cinnamon
  • c. mashed potatoes (2 medium large)


  • Combine pork, beef, onion, salt, pepper and water. Cook slowly for 45 minutes. Add cloves and cinnamon; cook 15 minutes longer.
  • Add potatoes to meat mixture while hot. Let cool thoroughly, or about 1 hour, so flavors will blend. Turn mixture into pastry-lined 9" pie pan. Adjust top crust, cut vents and flute edges.
  • Bake in hot oven (400°F.) 45 minutes.
