This dessert taps into one of my oldest flavor memories. As a kid, my mom would take my brother and me to Fentons Creamery in Oakland, California. It was an old-timey soda fountain sort of place that made our family’s favorite sundaes. I always ordered their signature item, the black and tan, made with toasted almond ice cream, vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, and their very own “handmade caramel sauce.”
