A friend who lives near Beaumes-de-Venise in Vaucluse gave me the basic recipe for these cookies – I added the lavender. She uses the lovely Muscat wine made in the village which gives the cookies a delightful flavor. Sometimes, for a change, I make the cookies with Montbazillac, a dessert wine from the Dordogne, and it works just as well.
