No one is a stranger to sweet chilli sauce. I went through a phase of adding it to my salads every day. However, since a lot of shop-bought chilli sauces contain fish sauce, here is an easy vegan version you can make yourself.

  • ½ cup (175 g) rice syrup
  • ½ cup (175 g) agave syrup
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons cornflour
  • 1 heaped teaspoon chilli flakes
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk all the ingredients together with ¼ cup (60 ml) water. Continue to whisk and cook until the sauce boils and thickens, about 10 minutes.

Decant into a clean glass jar and store in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.
