As teenagers, my sister and I loved making banana splits for our two brothers. They were our guinea pigs for some first-class, some bizarre, and some truly awful flavor combinations. We would slice the bananas, scoop out several kinds of ice cream, layer sauces, and garnish with colorful toppings.
