This is a variation on pecan pie that uses maple syrup as a sweetener and gets a little kick from bourbon. Use only 100 percent real maple syrup and choose one with a dark, robust flavor. (It used to be labeled “grade B,” but this confusing classification has changed. Dark maple syrup has simply been further caramelized, so it has a more intense flavor than the light amber syrup.)
