  • About

Ingredients

  • crabapples
  • water
  • sugar
  • bowl
  • tea-towel
  • string

Method

You can flavour this with cloves, ginger or cinnamon. Pick out any unsound or bruised crabapples, and wash the rest well. Leave the stalks on, put in a saucepan and just cover with water. Simmer covered until they are a pulpy mass (about 30 minutes) prodding with a wooden spoon occasionally. Add the cloves, ginger or cinnamon now, if wanted. Wet a clean tea-towel or similar cloth, in hot water
