Method

Peel, quarter, and seed the apples, then cut into thin slices. Place in a saucepan with the water and sugar, and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon.

You can either flavor the applesauce with cinnamon or lemon juice, or with caramel. In the second case, make a caramel by cooking the brown sugar and water together until the mixture darkens and caram
