Koreans will conventionally cook rice in a steamer, which can be bought at any Asian food store. However, the same flavour and texture can be created with pan-cooked rice. Short grain Asian rice is the best, although pudding rice can be used as an alternative. Good quality rice will have a visible sheen, and the grains will be free from scratches.
