  • 2 large lemons, limes, or navel oranges, or 3 oz fresh peels

Method

If using oranges, rinse them under cold running water. Using a citrus zester, extract the zest and place it in a small, dry glass container that can be sealed so it is airtight. Pour the vodka over the peels and press down to submerge. Seal the lid tightly and shake. Store in a cool, dark place for 6 to 8 weeks; shake occasionally. Strain the liquid before using.
