  • About

The classic and most famous of the cocktails, with a ratio of two parts gin to one part dry vermouth, is still one of the most elegant and sophisticated drinks around. While the gin is important, the vermouth is perhaps the most critical component. For silky martinis, keep your vermouth fresh and store it in the fridge.

Ingredients

  • 2 fl oz (60 ml) gin
  • 1 fl oz (30 ml

Method

Combine the gin and vermouth in a mixing glass filled with ice and stir until well chilled, 20–30 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass or coupe. Add the olives, pieced together with a cocktail pick if desired. If garnishing with a lemon twist, express the lemon zest over the drink and drop it into the glass.
