In a deep mold spread a layer of the pastry broken into small pieces. Then sprinkle candied orange peel and the fruit preserve or any other fruit you may have on hand over the pastry. Make custard by scalding milk and vanilla. Mix eggs and egg yolks with sugar and beat thoroughly. Add milk gradually. Strain. Pour custard over the top. Repeat layer, using all ingredients. Cover mold and set in a pan of hot water. Bake in moderate oven about 40 to 50 minutes or until set like custard. Serve with sweet cream.
