Dark, heavy, robust flavors like rum, dried fruits, and chocolate often remind me of fall and winter, when I crave something more substantial to satisfy my sweet tooth. Adding in some spice certainly helps to sway things in favor of fall, and these brownies just seem to fit the season in my mind. I know that some people may balk at the idea of adding those infernal raisins into something as sacred as a brownie, but trust me on this one—the addition really works here.
