  • 4 tablespoonfuls cocoa
  • 2 cupfuls of flour
  • ½ teaspoonful

Method

Melt the shortening and stir into it the cocoa, add the water, sugar, and molasses. Stir the flour, ginger, allspice, soda, and baking powder into the rest of the ingredients. Chill the dough and roll out on a floured board as thin as possible, cut into fancy shapes or rounds, and bake in buttered pan in a moderate oven.
