When people talk about chicken soup for the soul, this is what they’re talking about. It doesn’t take too much effort or time, but has beautiful healing ingredients such as ginger and turmeric as well as some hearty, protein-filled chicken.


  • 2 chicken breast fillets
  • 1 brown onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, sliced


In a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, add the chicken, onion, garlic, ginger, bay leaves, turmeric, coriander, a sprinkle of salt, the vegetable stock, peppercorns and chilli. Add enough water to cover all the ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer gently for 12 minutes.
