This is not interchangeable with ground espresso beans. Instant espresso powder is intended to dissolve easily and is great for most baking applications. It can be is used to cut sweetness, accentuate chocolate flavor, and heighten the coffee-like taste of your pastries. Ground espresso beans will not dissolve and can give your baked goods a grainy texture. I used Medaglia d’Oro brand espresso powder in testing all these recipes.
