One long baguette should make about 25 to 30 crostini. To make them, heat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Cut the bread along the bias into ¼-inch (6-mm) slices. Place them in a single layer on one or two baking sheets and brush both sides of each slice with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt. Bake, turning the slices once during cooking, until the slices are crisp and light golden brown, about 12 to 15 minutes. Once cooled, crostini can keep for two days at room temperature in an airtight container.
