REMARKS Maximum length 60 cm. Of a markedly reddish tint, as the scientific and French names imply. The nomenclature of this genus is confusing. All these fish are liable to be called pagel or pageau in French. Pagell is a Catalan name.

CUISINE Quite a good fish, which you may grill or bake with good results.
