Penaeus Kerathurus (Forskål)

Appears in

By Alan Davidson

Published 1981

  • About

Family Penaeidae

REMARKS Maximum length is 22 cm. Brown, with reddish tints.

The imposing size and appearance of this prawn have earned it some impressive names. The French sometimes call it grosse crevette; and another French name, crevette royale, is current in Tunisia. This last is outdone, however, by the Italian name gambero imperiale!
