  • About
Here are three of my favorite towns, all of which I recommend visiting, along with a few recommended places to eat and nearby vineyards, although there are too many to mention here. Colmar is the largest of the towns and makes for a good base, and the other towns are a twenty-five-minute car ride away.

COLMAR is a charming little city in the heart of the wine region. You will find some of the most beautiful half-timber Tudor houses in the old town, as well as a network of canals, earning the area the name “little Venice,” which is especially beautiful to visit in the late spring when all the flowers and trees are in bloom. The Unterlinden Museum has an impressive collection of medieval paintings, while the Bartholdi Museum features the work of Colmar-born sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, who designed the Statue of Liberty. Domaine Schoffit is a winery in town, and many smaller wine towns are nearby—such as Bergheim, which is home to Domaine Marcel Deiss, Domaine Spielmann, and Gustave Lorentz.
