Zephyr, a newcomer that has a yellow crookneck as one of its parents, is a hybrid from Johnny’s Selected Seeds. Its other parent was derived from a Delicata and yellow Acorn cross. Unfortunately, all of my samples (including the one in the photo) were picked larger than the size recommended by the developers, so I cannot properly evaluate the product. I can report only that its colors baked to a shiny, deeper brilliance, that it was quite crisp (in fact, brittle), and that it was somewhat sweet but lacked flavor. It seems highly unlikely that a squash with Delicata and yellow crookneck in the mix could be anything less than delightful, so I recommend that you try it for yourself if you find it.
