  • About
It would have been a missed opportunity not to check out the local baking section in the village hall in Shawhead, near Dumfries. In fact, I was unofficially invited to give a hand with the judging of the baking section. This was a great first-time opportunity to check out some serious traditional local baking with some proper local girls who were old enough to be my gran. There was a homely array of doilys and paper plates with 30 or so different types of cakes and biscuits lined up and waiting to be critiqued on bare trestle tables. This was more nerve-racking than judging Junior Masterchef.
