Oregon is situated in the Pacific Northwest on the Pacific coast, with Washington to the north, California to the south, Nevada to the south east and Idaho to the east. The major rivers are the Columbia and Snake, which cross through the northern and eastern boundaries. The eastern region of the state has evergreen forest and pine and juniper woodland, and a semi-arid scrubby landscape and prairies, which stretches from Central Oregon.
