There is something exquisitely tempting about a complete dessert for one person. Any large dessert can be redesigned as a small one. And any small dessert can be made even smaller and offered in glorious miniature, Enticing, mouthwatering seductions …

There is something exquisitely tempting about a complete dessert for one person. A small pastry evokes the childlike response “It’s so beautiful and it’s all for me!” During my year in Paris, our great friends were an English family with two small boys, 7 and 8 years old. The younger memorialized his Paris year by creating a series of woodblock prints depicting éclairs and tartelettes. Today, with an advanced degree in art history and philosophy from a prestigious London university, he has not lost his early passion for pastry.
