No festival or celebration in India is complete without sweetmeats and desserts. A lot of them are milk-based, making them also nourishing - and they’re very sweet. Edible silver or gold leaf is often used to decorate the sweetmeats which adds to their festive appearance.
Yoghurt-based lassis and fresh fruit juices are popular everywhere, and Indian beer is pretty good, too!
