Family Celebrations

Baptisms, first communions and weddings are among the most important celebrations for families in southern Italy. No expense is spared, from the clothes to the venue and menu. These enormous feasts, to which hundreds of family members and friends are invited, are opportunities for people to show off their wealth and generosity. It is considered dishonourable to provide anything less than a huge banquet, however much it costs.
