  • About

Jardalus, known in Britain as Hunza apricots, come from Afghanistan, or the part of Pakistan that borders it. This is perhaps the Shangri-La of Lost Horizon fame, where the people claim they owe their longevity to a diet rich in these unusual apricots and their kernels. Their scientific name is the same as that of any other apricot, Prunus armeniaca, but they’re a variety known in Gujarati as jardalu, which means “yellow plum.” Jardalus are like no other dried apricot on the market, but you have to cook them to unlock their full flavor, and taste them to realize this.
