Rice - Brown, Wild and Red

These types of rice take longer to cook than white rice. Wash wild rice and soak for at least 2 hours before cooking.
  • 1 cup rice = 3 cups cooked
  • 1 cup rice to 6-8 cups water
Wash rice to remove excess starch, rinse and drain.
Pour the rice into the water and bring to the boil. Lower the heat and boil gently uncovered for 25-30 minutes.
You may need to add extra hot water to these types of rice as the cooking takes 2-3 times longer.
Drain the rice and rinse in cold water if using in salads.
