Go-East

We were in search of Thai stick, which is seriously hallucinogenic. We’d never had it but we’d heard about it. We could have been taken anywhere, by gangsters up the side street on a motorbike. I remember this room with a creaky old ceiling fan, and my brother passed out, just laying on a bed. He looked really pale and we were shaking him, we actually believed he was dead. I was panicking about what I was going to tell my Mum, when he suddenly sat up and went, “I can hear you, you know.” That’s the only thing like that I’ve ever done. Never again, but it was kind of funny.
