  • About
Good coffee is something everybody should be able to make. The two simple methods of preparing coffee are to use either jug or saucepan.

To make coffee in a jug Select an earthenware, china or enamel jug. Heat it thoroughly with boiling water, pour this away and put in 2 heaped tablespoons (40 g, 1½ oz) coffee for each 6 dl (1 pint) water. Have the water briskly but freshly boiling and pour it at once on to the grounds. Stir well, then cover and leave the coffee to infuse for 4 minutes. Pass a cold spoon through the top of the coffee to settle the grounds. Then strain through a nylon (never metal) strainer into a hot jug.
