A gratin of grated potato, anchovies, butter, onions and cream, Jansson’s temptation is supposedly served at the end of a party to make the guests stay longer. The debate of how it acquired its interesting name is ongoing — some say the dish was thought to have tempted a religious fanatic who had vowed to give up all earthly pleasures, while other theories suggest it came from the Swedish opera singer Pelle Janzon or from the title of a 1928 film.
