Ingredients

  • 2 pounds apples
  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • cup melted sweet butter
  • ¼ cup cake crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon fat

Method

  1. Peel and core the apples, and grate them. Mix with walnuts, raisins, sugar and cinnamon. Stir in the melted butter and blend well.
  2. Preheat oven to 375°F. Sprinkle cake crumbs on the prepared sheet of strudel dough. Spread apple filling on one third of the dough sheet.
  3. Roll the strudel (see basic recipe). Cut according to the size of your baking pan, and place it in the pan. Spread the top with fat.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes.
