This is a traditionally Macedonian style of savory pastry. The filled pastry is shaped into a coil and sliced like a pie. The cheese filling is most common, but you can find many other fillings.

  • 1 cup (240 ml) warm water

Method

Grease 2 large baking sheets with vegetable oil.

Mix together the filling ingredients and set aside in the refrigerator.

Place the warm water in a small bowl, add the yeast and ½ teaspoon sugar, and stir once. Cover the bowl with a plate and let stand until the yeast begins to foam, about 10 minutes.
