Breads and baked goods are a most celebrated and important component of Macedonian cuisine. For my father, like for many Macedonians, bread is the fourth utensil, soaking up all the rich flavors of every meal. It is not just a staple of daily life; it also an important part of almost all celebrations, playing a symbolic role in wedding ceremonies, birth celebrations, baptisms, funerals, and Christmas, New Year’s, and Easter traditions.
