  • 4 oz unsalted butter
  • 4 oz caster sugar

Method

Cream the sugar and butter together, add the beaten egg, stir in the sifted flour, mix to a firm dough. Ideally leave it to rest in the refrigerator, but if in a hurry carry on. Set the oven to Reg 5/375°. Roll the dough thinly and cut into shapes. At places like Fortnum & Mason they cut them into stars and moons, oakleaves and acorns.
