Growing up in suburban Connecticut, I’ve always been lucky enough to have easy access to both the bustling city and quiet farmlands. Though I mostly consider myself a “city girl,” come fall, the place to be isn’t the noisy and congested metropolis, but the quiet apple orchards with their omnipresent smell of fried cider donuts that wafts through the fields. Delicious in concept but somewhat disappointing in execution, I always craved more apple flavor than those oily rings could ever delive
