Constipation and diarrhoea

  • About
Fermented foods can be helpful in the relief of both constipation and diarrhoea as well as helping with IBS. I have found that fermented drinks like milk kefir and kefir water are particularly good for this, but any fermented food will introduce good bacteria into the gut to start the healing process. There are many causes for constipation and diarrhoea so this cannot be seen as a diagnosis or cure-all but it is a useful tool in my experience.

Personally I avoid buying fermented foods as you don’t always know how much salt they have used. When selling krauts one needs to be very careful with hygiene and for this reason, I believe that many of the commercial ferments may have had too much salt added for them to be healthy in the long run. Making your own allows you to control the level of salt used.
